Today is forecasted to be rainy, temperate, and grey, so I put on a couple spritzes of one of my comfort scents: Zoologist's Harvest Mouse. As a child, I read Brian Jacques' Redwall series, and this fragrance calls to mind memories of its pages: scenes of woodland critters scurrying about an abbey, baking delectable treats and living the slow life. Fairly linear, the notes of Harvest Mouse hit the nose all at once. Cloves and sandalwood give it a gently spiced warmth, while chamomile, hay, and beer extract enfold you in a cloak of mildly bready sweetness. The hay and beer are as prominent as any notes in such a mild-mannered scent can be. On my skin this is a delightful meal of pastries and ale, taken in a mown pasture. For those interested in presentation, the travel spray comes in one of Zoologist's elegant boxes: its cover, decorated with simple gold lettering and the classical swirls of the logo, slides off to reveal the bottle set in a velvety interior. Although not full-sized, the bottle is still emblazoned with the portrait-style image of a mouse in a bowtie, vest, and cap, looking every bit the country gentleman. Gold letters matching the ones on the exterior tell you that this is Harvest Mouse: a comforting blend of warm, homey scents, perfect for snuggling up inside on a grey day. Perfumer's Notes: Top—Bergamot, Cloves, Roman Chamomile, Orange Blossom
Heart—Davana, Hay Absolute, Benzoin, Opoponax, Rose Absolute, Beer Extract CO₂
Base—Fir Balsam, Oak Moss, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Peru Balsam, Vanilla
